Today, I went to the Wise Owl Senior Center. I got there in time for the bone density test which was the portable one that you just put your foot on it. They somehow can tell your bone density that way. Mine was yellow, which they told me was not good but also at the same time I should start working on that. The man told me to walk in the sun. Well, I had a bone density test last year which was ordered by my doctor and it was the kind that you lay down on the table. It was taken in the hospital, so I am assuming it can be trusted. It was fine then. However, the steroids I have had to put in my eyes may have made a difference. I have read that steroids will deteriorate your bones pretty quickly, That is why I take calcium every day. So I guess that is not enough for me. My conclusion is that I should take the calcium with D and walk in the sunshine. I really don't know how I would avoid walking in the sunshine in Arizona where the sun shines about every day.
Then, I had a wonderfully, delicious meal of Cod Fish on rice with spinach, baby lima beans, and applesauce. Also with 2 girl scout cookies. And a carton of milk. We had visitors at the Wise Owl today. A group of girl scouts were celebrating the anniversary of the Girl Scouts of America. They came bearing girl scout cookies. Which could not be resisted by some who bought them.
Today has been warm. Finally my favorite Wickenburg weather has arrived. Today was 80 degrees and tomorrow and the next two days promises to be in the 80s as well. Then a couple days farther down the calendar will come with temperatures in the 90s which will be record setting temps.
After lunch we had a drumming session. We were all given drums, the kind one taps with their fingers or hands. The the leader got everyone involved with the feelings of joy and love that comes with the sounds of the drums. And how twenty of us became as one through the sounds of music and drums. At the end of the session one of the helpers played the flute. That was very similar to a pow wow. I think everyone enjoyed it. and they will be back.

MY VAMPIRE EYES
Most of my friends out there remember my very red eyes and how long it took for my eyes, especially my left one to heal after the cataract surgery. Well, guess what, they are still red. My doctor here in Phoenix said that redness was due to severe allergies. Who knew? So I am taking eye drops in both eyes and one especially combined antibiotic-steroid mix for my left eye only. We had to get them ready for laser treatment. Doc said laser treatment is not a big deal and I will be sitting in the chair like when they check your eyes with my chin on the rest and my forehead against the top. That simple. No anesthesia. So now I am waiting for the connection to make my appointment for that. My right eye goes first, that is my better eye. Now about these eye drops I am taking, I am already taking less of the antibiotic mix, and that will dwindle to nothing eventually by taking less and less of it. The other drops are for my allergies and he said I will probably be taking those for the rest of my life. One drop in each eye once a day. He also added an over the counter eye drop. This one is a saline solution combined with some oil to take as needed during the day when my eyes start bothering me. And one more thing which he said was probably more or just as important as the eye drops is putting a warm compress on my eyes for five minutes several times during the day. I had been using a cold compress because my eyes had been burning and feeling feverish. He said the warm compress would be better and it helps with the healing process. I know after I use that warm compress my eyes feel so much better. I just take a small hand towel and wet it with hot water then squeeze out the water by that time it is usually cool enough to put on my closed eyes. It feels great.
Wii BOWLING TOURNAMENT
Here it came and there it went. February 13th was the Wise Owl Senior Center Wii Bowling Tournament. So this took place in Avondale which is a small town within the City Limits of Phoenix, Arizona. Our team loaded a small bus or van and headed south at 7:15 A.M. Very early for me, but believe it or not I got up early and was the first one to be at our departure spot which was the Wise Owl. After about an hour and a half, we arrived at the huge sports complex where the tournament was to take place. Of course, most of the ladies headed to the bathroom first thing upon arrival. That was a long trip but we weren't to the point where anyone was asking "Are we there yet". Avondale had several teams going; we just had a team of four players going on. So we were split into teams and we had two of our people playing with two of another team. Now I have to brag a little at this point. I had only one practice session prior to the tournament date. First play I got a strike and thereafter got several more which was really great for me. Why was this great for me? I have been reality bowling twice in my entire age. First time I scored 29. The second time was when I took my grandson bowling for his birthday when he was in high school. I don't remember my score but I'm sure it was not much higher than 29.. But after that game and using the lightest ball they had, my wrist and forearm became swollen and I swore off bowling until now when I tried this Wii bowling game. It doesn't have that affect, doesn't hurt my wrist at all. I recommend it for Seniors. Back to the tournament. The other two from our team did great and they were winners. After all the competition was completed, we had a wonderful meal served. We had salad, five or so different kinds of pizzas, and cookies of several different kinds, and raspberry tea, lemonade, and water. It was wonderful and fresh. I think they baked the cookies there on location. After that there was the long ride back to Wickenburg. I hadn't mentioned there were drawings and prizes was Valentine's Candy.

Record Cold....
Now we have set a record for the longest cold spell here since 1989. Is that cool? Yes, and more.
Today I was going to take the opportunity to go to the Phoenix Zoo with a group from the Wise Owl Senior Center. I decided against that thought because the air is a little beyond cool and number one, I would have trouble breathing and number two, I would have to give up $25. for the trip, which is not bad, but I am saving for my laser treatment on my eyes. That of course is a little more costly out here, but I understand they are good at their work.
Tomorrow an electrician will be coming to check and fix a problem. My lights are blinking and sometimes they go all the way off and come back on. Surely can interrupt a movie on television.
Did I tell you that I am now on the Wii bowling team? There will be a Wii Bowling Tournament on the thirteenth of February in Phoenix. We Wii Bowlers from the Wise Owl will meet our opponents and hopefully win a game or two. I think they may be in more practice than we are because we can't get many to volunteer to be on the team. I look at it this way every winner needs a loser or they wouldn't be a winner so I for one will contribute to their status. LOL. Some people won't play a game unless they are pretty sure they can win. I play games for the pure enjoyment of it.

COLD NIGHTS AND WARM DAYS
Did you ever live in a cement block house? That is with no interior finish except paint. Well, when it is cold outside and the house is in the shade all day it can get pretty chilly. That is what I live in and I noticed my nose was cold, my toes were cold and my fingers were way too cold. So I turned on the gas heater and aaaaah.........nice.....warm. After a few minutes the whole house was so warm I had to turn off the gas heater. I guess that warm weather we were to have is not going to get here until Monday. Thursday, I made the trip to Surprise. Had a lot of groceries to buy for the month. It was a beautiful warm sunny day with a nice mountain breeze gently blowing. Feels like a vacation when I go there it is so far away to the big city.
Today, I got my body out of bed early and made it into the Wise Owl. Monday I will try to get my butt out of bed early and get to the Wise Owl for Coffee Klutch at 8:00 am. When it is cold in the mornings I don't like to get out of bed early, I just want to crawl back under those warm comforters.
I called the Laser Treatment Eye Care Center this afternoon. I talked to a lot of people who have been there and who had friends who have gone there for work on their eyes and it comes highly recommended by word of mouth. It is in Sun City and West of Surprise. I have to wait a month to have an appointment to get my eyes examined. I just know that I am not going back to the same person who worked on my eyes before because they are really messed up, my eyes that is. I just hope they can be fixed. However, there is one good thing; I can see really good out of my right eye with or without my glasses. So, half the problem is already solved.

Using Skype
I had good intentions of getting a great start on my New Year's resolutions this fine sunny morning but when I poked my head out the door, I immediately like a turtle pulled it right back in; it was too cold! What happened to that global warming? So no great expectations this day. Someone told me tomorrow is going to be warmer, like near 77 degrees. Now that is more like my Arizona winter.. Does anyone out there have skype? I just love it. I have been talking with my grandaughter and great-grandaughter who by the way is walking now.. I probably should say running. While we were talking she suddenly decided to head out to the kitchen. LOL., but MOM was on that right away she brought her back, and we talked some more. She has learned the words Thank You. Another day, another thought hopefully.
