Volunteer at City Library of Hannibal...

My granddaughter called me and ask if I would be interested in helping out at the library.  She said you are an artist and we could use your talent.  She further explained that they were working on the kick-off for the Summer Reading program.  I said well, I am not an artist but would be glad to help out.  She still insists I am an artist.  So I spent some time volunteering the last two weeks.  Look for the pictures of some of the things I did.  My first assignment was to draw a picture of the head of the Wizard of The Wizard of Oz fame.  So I was given supplies and a black poster board.  And that was the start of the adventure.  When I finished that project, I was given some thin plastic table cloths - orange and yellow. Then some red plastic wrap.  With this combination I made the resemblance of fire to be put on the walls of the stairway.  This was for Dantes' Inferno.  I also used some of the materials to make the fire under the Wizard's head, which was to appear to make all the smoke and clouds around him.  When finished with that, I drew the Queen of Hearts as in Alice In Wonderland.  Then one more project - the rainbow.  Luckily, there was enough paint left to do that.  I had fun. I really like those kind of projects.  Check out the pictures here.  My granddaughter said I should post them.
